Hi everyone! Yesterday’s destination was Jersey, a part of The Channel Islands. Sitting on the bay of Malo 22 Km from the French coast and 137 Km south of the English coast, Jersey is a British Crown Dependency with a population of about 100,000.
This week was Demi and Mitch’s turn to cook, and for their menu they chose to start with Mussels in White Wine and Garlic, followed by an entree of Roast Sirloin of Beef with Creamy Jersey Royals. Sadly, we can’t get Jersey Royal Potatoes here in Calgary, so we substituted with mixed coloured small potatoes.
For dessert they made a very traditional dessert -Jersey Wonders (also known as Des Mervelles). These are a sort of donut made from a dough of self-raising flour, butter, eggs and castor sugar which is then fried. They were a wonder, and absolutely delicious!
Next week’s destination is the Cook Islands – I can’t wait to see what our daughter Tamsin will make for us. 😊
