Broga! Yoga for dudes is here

Broga! Yoga for dudes is here

There is hardly a more enduring exercise routine than yoga. It’s been practiced for over 5,000 so it must be doing something right, and people must find it beneficial. One of the main reason’s it’s so effective is that it’s a two-for-one meaning it provides us with a total body AND mind workout. Yoga combines stretching and strengthening poses with deep breathing and meditation because we can’t have a healthy mind without a healthy body.

Over the centuries various forms of yoga have been developed which incorporate varying degrees of intensity and movement. Some of the more popular forms of yoga include: Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and there are others.

Once again, changes are taking place in the practice of yoga where men are turning to Broga! Yes, Broga is yoga for dudes. Men want the yoga experience but want to focus on the physical aspects over the spiritual ones. Men are shaped differently and therefore move differently than women and so the appeal of an exercise routine centering on movements that enhance strength is very attractive.

In a nutshell, Broga is anatomically driven. It’s a newly designed yoga regime designed to be an amazing sweat producing core workout. It’s not a dumbed down version of yoga. Instead, Broga is arranged to be sportier and more athletic. It’s less zen-focused where the new emphasis is placed on improving flexibility and strength fitness. It combines lots of push-ups and changes the way squats are done. Broga aims at:

  • Enhancing flexibility, strength, stamina, concentration and endurance;
  • Improving balance, range of motion and mobility;
  • Improving blood flow to the muscles;
  • Promoting weight loss;
  • Reducing the effects of depression.

So, for all those dudes out there – think about adding Broga to your list of resolutions, and maybe even trying a class or two!
