Natural birth contributes to your baby’s immune system

What could be more natural for mothers than giving life to children through natural childbirth? Since we have walked the earth, women have given birth naturally without invasive techniques, debilitating drugs, and control over what makes us feel safe and comfortable. Countless studies have been written about how vaginal births provide a variety of advantages to mother, partner and child. One of the most important benefits being studied is how babies born naturally display stronger immune systems than those born through surgery or caesarean section. In the womb a newborn’s gut is sterile. As the baby travels through the birth canal it absorbs millions of microbes or protective bacteria from the mother. This is critical for a healthy life to come. These microbes rapidly begin to colonize in the baby’s gut called gut flora.
